They Call Me Joel
Let’s give it a shot!

Hey, guys. I’m Joel. I’m new to tumblr and blogging in general, but I’ve been kinda a geek for awhile and stuff. And today I got recommended to make a tumblr by my new kinda sorta friend. But more on that later, I guess.

Today was a bit weird. I mean, i guess I should start from the beginning.

I’ve lived in Boston most of my life, but as of yesterday I started my first full day in Homestead, Florida. My uncle was kind of a nut, but also really rich with no kids. So he left us everything in his will, if my mom lived in hometown for five years. And we weren’t doing so well in Boston, so we didn’t really have any other choice. Really though, this is kinda rambling on. The real story started at my first day at school.

My first day at the Miskatonic School of Arts.

I got to school about halfway through the day, and as soon as we pulled up, I noticed things were kinda off. There were twelve flags (all with horoscope things!) hanging in front of the school, with pictures of horned orcish looking guys swinging weapons around. Students were running around, being crazy, it was just.

I left the car with my mom wishing me luck and driving off almost as if she was trying to embarrass the shit out of me. She tends to be that way. Anyway, standing at the door was this lady about 30-ish with a pink streak through her dark hair, introducing herself as “Principal Roxanne.”

She showed me around the school for a bit, which I would guess is pretty odd for a principal, but the hallways themselves were really weird. Someone had graffitied the art class sign to say “F4N ART” and the creative writing class’s sign had been completely dismantled in favor of a “FaNfIC” sign.

But odder than that were easily the students. I mean, i knew the school had no uniform policy, but every kid i passed was wearing weird horoscope themed t-shirts or these other pajama get-ups. Most had horns or gray make up on, and it was honestly the oddest sight I think i’ve ever seen. A few were even wearing the worst looking sunglasses I’ve ever seen in my life!

When I asked Principal Roxanne if anything was “different” about the school, she just said it was spring fling. All in all, she was really nice, but as I heard loud “honk” sounds down the hallway, I’m not really sure what to think of this school.

Eventually the tour of basic stuff ended, and she took me to my homeroom. I was told that i could go around anywhere I wanted with it being spring fling and all once I had “gotten acclimated.”

The room was completely empty, except for a sleeping teacher at the desk and three kids. All of them were wearing the weird make up, except two of them had other white make up on, that I swear to God I’ve seen somewhere. Anyway, they seemed preoccupied talking to each other, so I went to sit next to the girl who was alone. She was wearing an odd blue helmet and green jacket, along with one of those horoscope shirts, and she seemed friendly enough.

I went to say hi, but before i had even sat down, the two others came over with threatening looks on their faces, one smiling horribly and one frowning sadistically. Honestly, they were skinny and on reflection I think I could probably have taken them, but they scared the living shit out of me when they walked over.

“honk,” one of them said. The other just repeated that. And then they kept fucking doing that! Getting really close and all, but before they could continue, the blue helmet girl (who was apparently wearing a tail?) stood up and GROWLED at them, apparently scaring them off. She turned to me and offered what she later called the “pouncegreet,” jumping on to me and very nearly knocking me down.

I was kinda ticked off at first, but in retrospect, it was pretty adorable. She told me her name was Sara, and grabbed my arm, dragging me out of the classroom. Apparently I was so “obmewiously new” and had to be shown around. She took to me to most of the same places the principal had, but we also got to see some of the other students. One of them even had these dumby pointy shades straight out of an anime.

She talked really fast, and about cats and stuff. She was nice, if really hard to understand. Eventually she led us back to the homeroom, now completely empty and showed me some artwork she had done. It looked like the school mascots I had seen earlier, and I pretty much just “ooh and ah’d” at it the entire time. We listened to some music, and most of the day passed pretty quickly from there. Only a few minutes before the final bell, she left, saying she had to meet her “meowrail.”

When i asked her whatever that was, she just kinda laughed and, I think, blushed? It’s weird, I guess. After she left I found she had left a note on the desk saying that her “chumhandle” was “actualCosplayer.” I’m still trying to find out what a “chumhandle” is if anyone can give me some help.

The bell rang, I walked out to my car, and I came home. My mom keeps pestering me about my day, but I really don’t know how to talk about it. Sara mentioned something about how tumblr helped her with her “feels” earlier today, so I kinda figured that this was something maybe you guys would know about.

So I’m going to start blogging about school, and who knows where it will go?
